The Cornwall Center was a buzz Wednesday Dec 7, 2016 with 20 youngsters who were treated to a shopping spree at the Cornwall Center.  It was the second annual CopShop and Regina Crime Stoppers along with our partners at Conexus Credit Union were proud to be part of it.  Ten of the youth who participated in this event are also part of  our ‘Leaders Creating Future Leaders’ program.

“It’s an opportunity for some kids to go out and buy some Christmas gifts for themselves or some family members that they may not otherwise have an opportunity to do just based on their financial situations,” Lance Dudar, co-ordinator for TRIP, said.

After being picked up from their respective schools in a limo the youth came to the mall, met their Cop to shop with and were treated to a pizza lunch followed by a visit with Santa.

Along with a $200 gift card, each child received either a new jacket or pair of boots from Sears, a $10 Dollerama gift card, a pair of mittens from The Bay and a new pair of jeans from the Gap.

While they were waiting for everyone to finish shopping, the youth received snack sponsored by the Leaders Creating Future Leaders program and had their presents wrapped by volunteers from Conexus Credit Union.  It was pretty special event and meant a lot to the youth and adults who were part of this day.  Thank you to everyone who participated.
