It’s a crime that doesn’t require the cover of darkness. Early in the afternoon on July 10th, Absolute Cash Second Hand Pawn Shop on Dewdney Avenue is busy with shoppers. Just before 1, all customers exit the store, so one man approaches the counter and asks to see a guitar. He strums the instrument briefly before returning it to the employee, who returns the guitar to the back of the store. That’s when the man strikes, snatching a ring box from the side of the counter. Inside is a 10 karat white gold ring – it isn’t his to take – the ring belongs to a paying customer.

The suspect is a Caucasian or aboriginal man, with a medium build. He’s in his 40s, has long dark hair, and facial hair. He was wearing a dark coloured shirt with thumb holes, dark jeans, sunglasses, and was carrying a backpack over his shoulder. Police believe the man may be a busker downtown.
