Theft

IN A WORLD FULL OF THINGS TO STEAL, THIS ONE IS A BIT OF A CURIOUSITY, BUT A LUCRATIVE CAPER NONE THE LESS.

IT’S MARCH 4TH, NEARING THE END OF THE LUNCH HOUR. A MAN STROLLS INTO THE SHOPPERS DRUG MART INSIDE THE CORNWALL CENTRE AND HEADS TO THE CANADA POST KIOSK. HE ASKS FOR A BOX OF STAMPS, SAYING IT’S FOR HIS TEE SHIRT BUSINESS.

DURING THE TRANSACTION PROCESS AND WHEN THE CLERK’S BACK IS TURNED THE SUSPECT PULLS HIS CARD FROM THE CHIP READER AND SWIPES IT INSTEAD. WHEN THE PURCHASE WORKS HE ASKS FOR 6 MORE BOXES OF STAMPS, SWIPING AGAIN WHEN THE CLERK ISN’T LOOKING – AND THEN 3 MORE BOXES AFTER THAT. AFTER 8500 DOLLARS IN STAMPS THE CASHIER TURNS DOWN FURTHER REQUESTS. 4 DAYS LATER THE SAME SUSPECT RETURNS WITH THE SAME CARD, BUT THIS TIME THE STOLEN PLASTIC IS DENIED.

THE SUSPECT IS A MIDDLE EASTERN MAN IN HIS 30’S, AROUND 6 FEET TALL AND 230 POUNDS. HE HAD SHORT DARK HAIR, DARK COLOURED EYES AND A SHORT BEARD. HE WAS WEARING LIGHT COLOURED PANTS, A DARK SHIRT, A DARK WINTER JACKET, AND IS LEFT HANDED

(REPLAY FROM APRIL 3)
