Today our future leaders heard from two well known First Nations leaders in our community.
Jada Yee and Thomas Benjoe shared how the choices they made brought them to where they are today.
Yee, who recently received an award for Top 40 under 40 for his industry, recognized he was headed down the wrong path but turned his life around and gave back to the people and community that believed in him. He talked about how young people can help their community, “you don’t harm it, you help it”.
Thom Benjoe, who was recently appointed CEO of File Hills Qu’Appelle Development and received CBC Future 40 recognition, talked about respect for those around you and using words to talk things through to address differences in opinions. “Surround yourself with good people” and “never stop learning” were two key messages.
Thanks to Thom Benjoe, Jada Yee, the Serbian Hall and all the volunteers (Conexus, TRIP, Teachers, Community Workers etc) who made this event possible.
